Chief Gyurina has been a member of the Montoursville Police Department since 1996. He was promoted to Chief of Police in September 2011. He graduated from the Montoursville Area High School in 1987 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Earth and Space Sciences from Bloomsburg University in 1991. While at Bloomsburg, he played baseball and was voted Conference Player of the Year.


From 1994 to 1996, Chief Gyurina was employed by the Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office as a D.A.R.T. (District Attorney’s Response Team) member. D.A.R.T. was a 5 man team solely focused on narcotics investigations. Chief Gyurina is a member of the Lycoming County Drug Task Force and works as a part-time processing officer at the Lycoming County D.U.I. Processing Center
