Deputy Chief Bentley joined the Montoursville Police Department in February 2006 and was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police in January 2012.

Deputy Chief Bentley is a 1994 graduate of Montoursville Area High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and graduated from the USAF Police Academy, Lackland AFB, Texas in 1995. He then served on active duty with the 14th Security Forces Squadron/Law Enforcement Division until 1998. While stationed at Columbus AFB, Mississippi, Bentley specialized in Law Enforcement and Anti-Terrorism Response.

Bentley then worked at Bucknell University as a Campus Police Officer from 2001 - 2006. While working at Bucknell, he obtained his certification to be a Municipal Police Officer, became certified as a Hazardous Materials Technician Level III and was trained for Emergency Radiological Response.
