Montoursville Police Department
The Montoursville Police Department has 5 full-time and 6 part-time officers and is a 24-hour, 7-day a week operation that provides police services for the 4,615 (2010 census) residents and various businesses within the 4.2 square miles of the Borough. We are a pro-active department participating in the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and the School Resource Officer (SRO) programs. During the summer months some of our officers patrol by bicycle, which provides a unique interaction with the community.
Our officers are also active in enforcing the Driving Under the Influence statutes. We are active in the Lycoming County DUI roving patrols as well as participating in the countywide DUI checkpoints.
Our department also has officers active in the Lycoming County Drug Task Force and the Northcentral Task Force.
Our officers are dispatched through the Lycoming County 911 Communications Center. If you have an emergency you can dial 911 and the Telecommunicators will send an officer to your aid. If you need to speak with an officer when it is not an emergency you may dial 570-433-3166 and ask to speak with a Dispatcher and explain to them your request.
The Montoursville Police Department relies on your cooperation to report things as you observe them occurring, providing as much information as possible. It is important that that you notify us immediately, no matter what time of day or night the incident occurs. So many times we receive calls during the day about something that happened during the nighttime, but am told that they didn′t want to disturb us. PLEASE, disturb us. Call when it happens. We are here for you. The reporting of incidents as they occur assists us in solving issues in a timely and most efficient manner.
